From MASI to SHU Discovery: A Legacy of Learning
The Discovery Museum, formerly the Museum of Art, Science, and Industry (MASI), opened in Bridgeport in 1962. MASI evolved over time, shifting its focus from a combined arts and sciences approach to a primarily STEM-focused children’s museum, eventually becoming the Discovery Museum and Planetarium in 2018. With its lease secure until 2088, generations of families will continue to benefit from this valuable community resource. The addition of the renovated planetarium, the Challenger Learning Center, and the Science on a Sphere exhibit have further cemented the museum’s reputation as a leading science education center.
